Crack and Beauty

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.

One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.

At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water.

Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.

But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream.

'I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house.'

The old woman smiled, 'Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?'

'That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them.'

'For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table..

Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house.'

Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.

You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

最近在看吴淡如的新书《决定要幸福》，觉得其封面的文字很有意思，其实把“如果，那么”的准则套用在生活上，简单的几行字可以为你带来无穷的力量。

路就在不远处

有一个年轻人，像往常一样出海捕鱼。突然，刮起了大风浪，船只不幸地被打翻。他在慌乱中抓住了一片浮木，就这样漂浮到一个岛屿。他打着冷颤四处张望，只见 一望无际的树林，没有任何的建筑物，他心想不妙，料定自己身陷无人的岛屿，感到十分失望。想着想着，忽然听见飞机飞过的声音，他立刻挥大声地叫喊，可惜却 得不到回应。黑夜渐渐地降临，四处传来不同动物的叫声。他害怕极了，只好卷缩着寒冷的身躯躲在树下，度过了漫长的一夜。他一直留在同一个地方等待，可是过了两三天，连一架飞机的影子都不见。他决定起火来向外求救，于是捡起了一些干树枝，在一片空地上升起火来。突然，他听见身后传来一阵呼喝声，转过头一看，原来是两位警察。警察严厉地问他：“先生，你为什么私自闯入国家公园里，还在这里起火？”年轻人一脸疑惑，说道：“我在海中遇难，被海浪冲到这个荒岛上，差点就要饿死了。”警察指向一方，说：“你只要往这边再走五百米，就会看到柏油路了。”

也许你会觉得这个年轻人愚蠢，因为明明马路就在不远处，他竟然死守在原地等待别人救。在现实生活中，有的人面对困境，就如故事中的年轻人一样先入为主，未尝试就认为自己一定失败，却不知其实只要稍走几步，就是走向成功的转折点。“先入为主” 是关键，很多事情其实都被我们自己的想法所控制。不去尝试注定会失败，勇于尝试有五十巴仙的成功，仅此而已。那你会如何选择呢？

不完美中的完美

有一天早上，男主人从屋子里出来，正要开车去上班时，发现车道上长出了一些杂草，柏油铺设的车道弄出了一道裂痕。看了觉得很碍眼，心想：这堆杂草真讨厌，破坏了我完美的车道！” 接着，他一面开车，一面想着要怎样把它们去除掉，同时又担心杂草生长在其他的地方。
他就这样因为这件事而不安了一整天，等到下班时，他顺道去毗邻的幼儿园接五岁的小孩回家。孩子看起来很高兴，蹦蹦跳跳地上了车。
父亲就问道：“儿子，你怎么今天心情特别好啊？”
孩子突然问父亲：“爸爸，你今天早上有没有看到车道上长出的一丛杂草？”
“有啊！”爸爸垂头丧气地回答。“我就是因为那堆杂草，烦了一整天。”
“为什么？”孩子听了很吃惊，说道：“爸爸，那些杂草让我今天的心情特别好！”
“他们不过是一堆杂草，有什么好开心的？”父亲说：“儿子，你真奇怪。”
孩子转过头说：“爸爸，小小的草，竟然能够冲破这么硬的柏油路，我觉得好厉害哦！你居然不为它高兴，你才是奇怪呢！”
父亲笑了，孩子的童言童语，顿时让他发现，自己为了一丛杂草烦恼是多么愚蠢的事。

其实，在面对人生一些不完美的事，往往会为此耿耿于怀，而影响心情，导致该完成的事情停滞不前。人生有许多不如意，只要你不在意，其实它可以不存在；只要你换个角度看，它可以变成你向前的动力。与其感叹生命中的不完美，不如细数我们所拥有的。
